Prep Your Home Theater for the Holidays

Now that winter and the holiday season is just around the corner, it's a perfect time to get your home theater system ready to go for those cold evenings you'll be spending at home. Whether you're going to keep your old TV or you're going to upgrade to something in 4K ultra HD, here are some tips that will help you get everything set up.

Stock Up on Batteries

You don't want your remote controls to die on you while you're bingeing watching your favorite shows on Netflix, so make sure you have plenty of AA and AAA batteries on hand. You'll need to keep the controller for your smart TV operational of course, but you shouldn't neglect your Blu-ray player remote or your DVD player either. Take stock of all the remotes you have, and make sure you have plenty of charged batteries ready to go.

Don't Rely on Streaming Services Too Much

As much as you might love your streaming media player, you should have your favorite movies and TV shows available in other formats as well, especially if you have a dodgy internet connection. Take stock of your DVD and Blu-ray collection and make sure that your favorite discs still play. If you want to get the most out of your home theater system, upgrade your older movies to Blu-ray, since this format looks great on a 4K television.

Check All of Your Connections

If you're the type who spends most of their time out of the house when the weather is good, you might not have spent a lot of time watching anything at home. For all you know, your home theater system and soundbar speaker system might need some additional care before you invite your friends over for a movie. Check all of your connections to make sure everything is working as it should, especially if you've recently invested in a new LCD televsion or a state-of-the-art sound system. You don't want to waste half of your evening setting everything up, so take care of this before you want to sit down for a movie.
